Jewelry Sets | Necklaces | Bracelets

Parures are the jewelry sets, collections of jewelry, which include a variety of gold or silver pieces: gold earrings and a diamond necklace, silver bracelets and rings. All of them are executed in the same style; they have a single artistic solution and form a single jewelry ensemble together. Jewelry sets are traditionally divided into big and small. The set of a pair of earrings, bracelets, brooches, pendants and rings is considered the complete parure. The set is made of the same precious metal, inlaid with precious stones of one group. Sets of jewelry made of silver, white gold, complex alloys, decorated with semiprecious stones, look majestic. The main condition of a single set is the main idea of the jewelry is an element that must be present in each piece of the set. Such an element can be a gem (emerald, sapphire, ruby), exclusive unique engraved ornament or decoration.

Bells lettres passed the significance, beauty and elegance of jewelry sets. The story of diamond pendants in "The Three Musketeers" by Alexandre Dumas, or chic outfits and damsel's jewelry in "Anna Karenina" by Leo Tolstoy are worth remembering. Until the mid-20th century, separate gold products in the form of earrings, rings, pendants were not treated as complete jewel at all – only jewelry sets, consisting of two pieces at least. Now fashion is more loyal to the fans of the jeweler's art, but who can argue that this combination of decorations looks much more spectacular than a single exclusive jewelry!

Today separate items of jewelry are as much demanded, as big jewelry sets. Fine jewelry sets of contemporary execution are interesting and original, and jewelry sets (rings and bracelets) by goldsmiths of the last century are rich and refined. The fact that the full antique jewelry sets are extremely rare (usually vintage brooches, earrings, rings, necklaces or other parts of the set were provided lost) makes them especially valuable. Nevertheless, there are exceptions: at the bid "Masterpieces of Jeweler's Art", held by Sotheby's in Geneva in 2011, the set of Tsarist jewels with diamonds and a unique history was presented. Diamond set of necklaces, brooches and a pair of earrings, dated the mid-19th century, served as the Ottoman Sultan Ahmed III's gift from Empress Catherine I during the peace negotiations after the battle on the river Prut. The auction house sold the historical masterpiece of the jeweler's art for 10 million dollars.
